About us
Can you name the 10 characters pictured on the Australian bank notes?
Glenn and I often ask that question of people and the response is usually a variation on "I should know, shouldn't I?". Try asking your friends and acquaintances and you will surely get a similar response. Yet the Reserve Bank of Australia has chosen wisely in selecting these famous Australians, providing us with what is literally a ready-to-hand and richly stimulating opportunity to share our nation's story.
These are stories which should become part of our common heritage.
Allan Drummond has always had a passion for history and has passed it on to his children who have helped create activities on our titles. It's a real team effort. As a break from his work in Occupational Health and Safety, Allan has been writing and self-publishing biographies of famous people for young students for several years. Before the Aussie Notables series, he has written 32 titles including John Simpson Kirkpatrick, Peter Lalor, Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela, John Curtin, Fred Hollows and John Flynn

Glenn Lumsden is an award winning illustrator and cartoonist with over twenty years experience. As well as working on The Phantom comic book series, he has illustrated children's books with top Australian author Paul Jennings. His work has appeared in dozens of magazines including Reader's Digest, Australian National Geographic, The Financial Review and The Rolling Stone, as well as in newspapers including the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Telegraph. His advertising work includes illustrations for Allen's Sweets, The Ghan Railway, EMI records, Farmer's Union Milk and bottle labels for many Winemakers.
We have prepared the Aussie Notables series to assist in the teaching of the National Curriculum, 2011, but we know that they will be fun reading for everyone.
